Cover Reveal: The Fiery Heart

Bookish has now revealed the cover of The Fiery Heart, book 4 in the Bloodlines series, by Richelle Mead!

From Bookish: The "Bloodlines" series centers around Sydney, an Alchemist whose most important job is to keep vampires a secret from the rest of the world. Without giving away spoilers, we can tell you that the book centers on Sydney dealing with the consequences of the life-altering choice she makes in "The Indigo Spell." Plus, readers can expect threats from folks who misuse magic, Vampire Hunters and Strigoi (a.k.a vampire baddies).

Did you know the synopsis is already out too? Read it HERE! So, what do you all think of the fiery cover? I love the colors and the flowers! Sydney is definitely looking tough there. Adrian looks like he had a haircut and looks a bit older than I imagined. But ah! I'm so glad they're on the cover together since the book will be from their POVs. Cannot wait to read this book!

Synopsis: The Fiery Heart

Amazon has The Fiery Heart up for pre-order and the book's description is up as well! Read here:

In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her. . . .

But the struggle isn't over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there's still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure—and re-education—looms larger than ever.

Pulses will race throughout this thrilling fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where no secret is safe.

Ooh! I don't think it reveals much. But I am wondering why Adrian isn't mentioned, considering the book will include his POV. Another interesting tidbit is that the page count is set for 416 pages, which seems to be around the same length as the previous three books. The Fiery Heart is due out November 19, 2013, and you can pre-order it on Amazon or wherever books are sold. Be sure to come back on Wednesday because I will be posting the cover reveal of The Fiery Heart!

Richelle Mead's commentary on The Golden Lily

Richelle Mead started a Bloodlines Book Club where she re-read the first two books and posted commentary about each chapter in both books to countdown the release of The Indigo Spell. As she stated on her blog, "They won't be summaries or anything--mostly just my thoughts about what was going on when I wrote those chapters." She completed Bloodlines and you can find links here. She also finally finished reading The Golden Lily and links to those posts are below.

Oh I just realized that The Golden Lily may be longer in length, but it has less chapters than Bloodlines. Well, anyway, that seems to be all the commentary for now! Hopefully she does one for The Indigo Spell later on, especially since it's suppose to be her hottest one yet!

Video: Richelle Mead signing copies of Indigo Spell

Richelle Mead uploaded a fun video showing what it's like to sign about 250 pre-orderd copies of The Indigo Spell at University Books (the video was shot yesterday). Read more of what she had to say via her blog.

Wow! That's a really cool thing to show her fans. And look at all those copies of The Indigo Spell! Ahh! *dies* So close, yet so far!

Who is Marcus Finch?

Who is Marcus Finch? is a promotion campaign by the US publisher of Richelle Mead's Bloodlines series. It began January 22 and ends February 12. Each day (minus the weekends) the bloggers participating in the event post a clue about Marcus Finch who finally makes an appearance in The Indigo Spell. Some of these hints are things we already know, while some are things we never knew before. There are some pretty interesting clues about him. All 15 clues are posted below.

Richelle Mead's commentary on Bloodlines

Counting down to the release of The Indigo Spell, Richelle Mead started a Bloodlines Book Club where she re-reads the first two books and posts commentary about each chapter in both books. As she states on her blog, "They won't be summaries or anything--mostly just my thoughts about what was going on when I wrote those chapters." She has completed reading Bloodlines and here are the links to those posts:

Insightful stuff! And pretty cool reading what the author has to say about her own book and characters. I loved her post on chapters 26 and 27 for obvious reasons. (SYDRIAN!) Richelle has already started her chapter commentary for The Golden Lily. Once she's done, I'll be sure to put those in a new post.

Audio Editions of Books 1 - 3

Okay, so I had to show off the cover art of the audio editions! You can see more of Adrian's face (*stares* hehe) on The Indigo Spell and a little on Bloodlines and more of Sydney's face on The Golden Lily. I've included links to Amazon for each book, and you can actually hear samples from Bloodlines and The Indigo Spell. Not sure why The Golden Lily doesn't provide a sample.

If you're wondering, no, The Indigo Spell does not go all the way to chapter three. I was really REALLY hoping it would! haha But, it's only a sample of some of chapter one. I don't even think it got to the Adrian part. *sigh* Just 10 more days...

Richelle Mead's January 31 Twitter Chat

On January 17, Richelle Mead had a Twitter chat for 30 minutes via #readpenguin where she answered questions tweeted to her by fans. The focus was on world-building. The entire chat can be found here.

Last week on January 24, she had another Twitter chat with the theme being romance! You can read the transcript here or if you only want to read the ones relating to Bloodlines and Sydney/Adrian, I have those all here.

Yesterday, Richelle Mead had her final Twitter chat! The theme was Bloodlines. Read the transcript here. Not all questions had to be about Bloodlines though, so here are the compiled questions and answers about Bloodlines from the chat:

Sydrian teaser quotes from The Indigo Spell

If you follow Alchemist Secrets on Twitter, you might have seen me retweet some of these amazing, swoon-worthy quotes. They are Sydney/Adrian teaser quotes from The Indigo Spell that I would probably consider a bit spoilery. So, fair warning to those trying to avoid any type of spoilers or hints. Those planning on reading these quotes... Make sure you're sitting down when you read them. *passes out*

Richelle Mead's January 24 Twitter Chat

Last week on January 17, Richelle Mead had a Twitter chat for 30 minutes via #readpenguin where she answered questions tweeted to her by fans. The focus was on world-building (although, you really could ask whatever you wanted). The entire chat can be found here.

Yesterday, she had another Twitter chat, and this time the theme was romance! I'm not going to compile all the tweets (you can read the transcript here), but I will post the ones relating to Bloodlines and Sydney/Adrian. Two of my questions were answered, so that was pretty exciting. I made sure to bold those. ;)

Oh and before I forget, Richelle Mead will be having yet another Twitter chat next week! On Thursday, January 31 at 8PM EST. It will have a general Bloodlines theme. Looking forward to that. Hopefully I can think of some good questions by then.

Now on to the tweets!

The bloggers participating in the Who is Marcus Finch? campaign are also hosting giveaways for finished copies of The Indigo Spell that will be provided by the publisher. I'm not sure how many bloggers are participating (I've asked the publisher on Twitter but have gotten no response), so I did the next best thing. SEARCH. I managed to find a bunch! Unfortunately they are all USA ONLY, but if you live in the US and want to enter the giveaways that are hosted during this event, here's the list I've put together thus far:

Many chances to win. Good luck if you've entered! *crosses fingers*

Indigo Spell Teaser Trailers & Behind the Scenes

This is what you can except too see in the trailers! Squee!
I've complied the Indigo Spell teaser trailers and behind the scenes videos created by Penguin Teen Australia and put them all together into this post! The teaser trailers are each around 40 seconds long (more or less), and they contain many awesome scenes that revolve around Sydney and Adrian. You might just die from happiness or shock watching these if you're a Sydrian fan! The behind the scenes videos feature the Sydney and Adrian actors, Daisy Masterman and Nic Wheeler, who answer questions submitted by the fans. Very fun videos!

Teaser Trailers
  1. A Love that Terrifies You
  2. A Love that Gives You Courage
  3. A Love That Excites You
  4. A Love That Knows You
  5. A Love That Changes You
  6. A Love That Endangers You

Behind the Scenes

Did you watch them all? Weren't they amazing? PTA, Daisy, and Nic did a wonderful job on these trailers. They are pretty addictive too. I know I've watched these videos a couple of times already especially the ones with Sydrian kissing. hehe I'm ready for The Fiery Heart teaser trailers now!

Early Indigo Spell Reviews

Early copies of The Indigo Spell are out there and some readers have already posted their reviews/thoughts! There's been a range of reactions. I will include most of the reviews I've found so far and not just the positive ones.

But the Tigers Come at Night - Pretty sure this was the first Indigo Spell review! It's short, but it gives enough insight without spoiling. Loved this line: "...the Sydrian stuff was FLAWLESS AND BEAUTIFUL and everytime they were together I got crazy feels like you wouldn’t believe."

Makeshift Bookmark - Non-spoilery! It contains much fangirling and excitement. This is what the reviewer said about the book: "a Sydrian fan's dream come true." Do you know how happy that makes me?!

In the land of books - Contains spoilers and teasers! You've been warned. I decided not to read the review because I didn't want to spoiled that much (although I might give in later). I did read the teasers, though, and almost had a heart attack!

Anna Reads - Another non-spoilery! The reviewer lists 5 things we should know about the book. You really need to read that list. It will make you even more excited!

These next reviews I just quoted a few lines:

"There were parts I loved and parts I didn't love... Overall, THE GOLDEN LILY is still my favorite in the series because I liked the plot line and main conflict better than the main conflict in THE INDIGO SPELL. But seriously guys, the parts that were good were GOOOOOOOD. Squeeeee!" (source)

"Deliciously romantic, full of the wit and adventure that Richelle Mead is known for. I found Sydney more and more likable in this book, as she finally realizes that the Alchemists are terrible and controlling and that she needs to embrace her magic." (source)

"...The Indigo Spell is my favorite of the series so far, although the different storylines needed a bit of juggling." (source)

"I ended up having a love hate relationship with this book, I learned a lot about what Sydney could do as a person but there was nothing really memorable about what happened until the end. I can't wait to see what happens with Sydney and the gang, I feel there is a lot more to come." (source)

"I have never had so many mixed emotions about finishing a book as I did with IS. I couldn't wait to read how it ended and yet I didn't want it to end. [...] I only wish I could give this book 10 stars instead of 5." (source)

"Anyone complaining that Sydney is “boring” or “weak” in comparison to Rose had better think again. [...] Richelle Mead has already revealed that this is her most romantic, hottest YA book yet and I agree 110%." (source)

What did you think after reading all these reviews? Ecstatic? Nervous? Some of these reviews put a huge smile on my face! But not going to lie, they all made me a bit envious because they got to read The Indigo Spell early. Thankfully it'll be out in less than a month. *sigh* Hurry!

Bloodlines news you might have missed from November to January

It's been awhile! I never meant for this blog to be quiet for this long. Sorry about that. I'm going to try harder to keep this as active as possible from now on. (I guess that could be my New Year's resolution.) I feel like lots has happened since the last time I updated, so I will post everything major I can remember.

The title of Bloodlines book 4 is... The Fiery Heart! Richelle Mead revealed it on November 12. That was like best day ever. Because not only did she reveal the title, but she also revealed something amazing about the book. I can't even... Okay, just read what she said:
"This'll make a lot more sense when you read Indigo, which I'm starting to get super impatient for. Come on, February! Lots of big things happen in Indigo, and you romance fans are going to pass out. You know what also might make you pass out? This:

The Fiery Heart is going to be told from both Sydney and Adrian's points of view. That's right. If you've ever wanted to get inside the crazy world of Adrian Ivashkov's head, this is it. It'll still be in first person, but the POV will alternate chapters. I'm so excited about this, it's not even funny. Well, actually...since it's Adrian, it'll be hilarious. I think you guys'll love it..." (source)
Don't tell me you didn't want to pass out when you read that. Sydney's AND Adrian's POVs?! That's a dream come true! I cannot freaking wait! I think I want it more than The Indigo Spell! haha The Fiery Heart is most likely going to be released Fall 2013. Yep, that's right. We're going to get two Bloodlines/Sydrian books in one year! Best year ever!
